How to Judge Any Cruise Booking Site
- It shows the full price. Cruise fares are usually quoted per person, based on two sharing a cabin. A good site shows taxes, fees and port expenses before the payment page, not after.
- It names the fare type. You should see whether the deposit is refundable and what the fare includes before you enter card details.
- It tells you who holds the booking. After payment, you need to know whether the cruise line or an agency is your point of contact for changes.
- It has real contact details. A phone number or a named advisor matters if a flight is cancelled or a ship changes its itinerary.
- It is secure. The address bar shows a padlock and the site’s own domain, and it takes card payments rather than wire transfers or gift cards.
- It is clear about extras. If an agency offers onboard credit or another amenity, the terms should say when and how you receive it.

Are cruise booking sites cheaper than the cruise line?
Usually not on the base fare, which the lines control. What can differ is the extras: onboard credit, prepaid gratuities or other amenities that an agency adds from its own commission or a group allocation.
Can a booking site change my cruise after I book?
Changes such as cabin or date are made with the cruise line through whoever holds your booking. If you booked through an agency, ask it to make the change so your booking is not split between two parties.
Should I book on a site from another country?
Cruise lines publish different fares, currencies and promotions by market, and some limit offers to residents of certain countries. Book in the market where you live unless you are sure you qualify.
